Major works to add an additional lane (inbound) and build new overhead signage structures on the West Gate Freeway as part of the Webb Dock Access improvements are well underway. In early June, the existing concrete median barriers were removed to make way for upgraded barriers. Significant piling works to build foundations for the new median barriers has also been completed, as well as installation of supports for the new overhead signage structures.
In late 2016, works along Cook Street will ramp up with the removal of the existing Cook Street/Salmon Street roundabout to make way for a new signalised intersection that will be completed in early 2017. Motorists are asked to help keep workers safe by being alert and aware of changed traffic conditions including temporary lane closures, traffic management signage and personnel, and adhering to lowered speed limits.
