West Gate Tunnel Authority
The West Gate Tunnel Authority (formerly the Western Distributor Authority) is an Administrative Office within the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR) and is responsible for the management of the West Gate Tunnel Project on behalf of the Victorian Government.
The project team
The West Gate Tunnel Authority’s team is made up of skilled professionals from the public and private sector, with additional support provided by external experts from a range of fields.
The team is headed by CEO Peter Sammut. Peter has over 30 years’ experience in managing major infrastructure projects, including Public Private Partnership Projects such as the $3.5 billion Victorian Desalination Plant and the $2.5 billion Eastlink toll road, at the time Victoria’s largest ever urban road project.
