27 March 2019
The west is set to be a hive of construction activity as works ramp up along the West Gate Freeway for the West Gate Tunnel Project.
Drivers travelling on the West Gate Freeway and on local roads in the inner west are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
Works and traffic disruptions include:
- Full weekend Williamstown Road city-bound exit ramp closures
Sewer relocation and retaining wall construction continues at the Williamstown Road / West Gate Freeway interchange throughout April and May 2019.
Drivers will need to exit early at Millers Road and detour via Geelong Road or Blackshaws Road. Check out a video explaining the detours https://youtu.be/kwcEVO6SpEI
Further information can be found here.
- Fogarty Avenue - Ongoing works until November 2019
There is overhead power line relocation and new drainage installation currently underway along Fogarty Avenue.
Local road closures are needed to carry out this work. More info here
We will also need to temporarily close the Muir Street / Fogarty Avenue pedestrian bridge. More info here
- West Gate Freeway city-bound closure
We are replacing bridge bearings on the West Gate Freeway over Williamstown Road.
To do this work we will need to close Williamstown Road in both directions and the West Gate Freeway city bound for two nights in early April.
Check our Travel Disruptions page for more information.
- Ongoing widening works along the West Gate Freeway
A reminder these works are taking place between the M80 Ring Road to Williamstown Road.
